✨ Applications are now open for Citizen Poet “Here, Hearing” — mini residencies that bring poetry into everyday spaces and make part of Vancouver’s public life.
Apply to be a Citizen Poet, or host one in your space!
🖋️ What’s a mini residency?
A two-month, self directed, creative pause. Poets spend 2 hours a week at a host site simply being present — listening, reading and writing. Last year’s hosts included: Chinese Canadian Museum • UBC Farm • Clinton Park Fieldhouse • Upstart & Crow • SFU Belzberg Library • Enabling Arts.
🌿 Who can apply to be a Citizen Poet?
Everyone. Emerging or experienced writers, published or not, or anyone curious about poetry.
🪴 What happens with the work you create?
It’s entirely yours. At the end of the residency, participants submit a short audio recording for a year‑end digital playlist celebrating Vancouver’s soundscape.
🏡Interested in hosting a poet?
Citizen Poets are paired with host sites to make poetry visible as public art. Hosts offer 2 hours/week of space for 2 months. We welcome applications from accessible sites like offices, museums, cafes and bookstores.
📌 April 20 to be a Citizen Poet or to host one!
